Double-Terminated Quartz
DI 3-1, April 2003
Location:
Zederhaus, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
This double-terminated quartz crystal is really unusual in its growth: it consists of two pieces. Both fracture surfaces are healed, finely crystallized and fit together well. The colors of the crystal go from white to light green with an excellent gloss. A tip of the main crystal opens in several layers similar to a bud. The bottom layer is crystal clear. The larger crystals attached to the sides show an artichoke-like growth. Between the larger crystals, nests of a second generation small quartz crystals have grown.
Size: 18.8 x 6.5 x 5 cm
