Fluorite

WE 2-1, 2003, August

Location:

Summit Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria

Description:

One of the most beautiful pieces from this find: yellow-green to blue-green transparent fluorite with a diameter of up to 10 cm. The surfaces of the fluorite show a square structure and are slightly etched by water. The stepped edges of the fluorites, make them even more plastic. The crystals show a yellow-green color in transmitted light. In the outer area of the fluorite cubes, the crystals are somewhat darker due to a blue-green zoning. This piece had detached from the rock early on and the back side was intensively etched and healed due to the impact of water. In the side view you can clearly see the blue-green zoning.

Size: 18 x 16 x 8 cm
