Fluorite
WE 2-4, 2003, August
Location:
Summit Cleft, Weisseck, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Description:
This piece is a rarity from this find and is one of my favorite pieces from the Summit Cleft. The unusual color that comes from a darker blue zoning and the second generation of Fluorites with a reddish color give this piece this rare color. The second generation of fluorite settled on the cube surfaces of the first generation and partially hindered their growth. The cube faces of the first generation have grown further at the edges and as a result the crystals of the second generation are somewhat lowered. In addition, partially light brown sinter has settled on the fluorites and there are also fluorites of the second generation on the sinter. The surfaces are dissolved by water etching show an excellent gloss!
